About Heru The Violinist

Heru is a Washington, DC–raised violinist who grew up between two worlds: the structure of classical music and the pulse of hip-hop. Born in DC and spending part of his childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area, he was surrounded early by different sounds, cities, and cultures.

The violin came first as a traditional instrument—but it never stayed in a box. Over time, it became a lead voice over 808s, trap drums, and rap rhythms. That mix is where Heru lives now: one foot in the concert hall, one foot in the street.

From Howard Halls to Trap Violin

Heru returned to DC to attend Howard University, one of the most storied HBCUs in the country. Between classes, campus life, and the grind of staying afloat, the violin remained constant—showing up at events, shows, and any space willing to make room for something different.

At Howard, the idea of “trap violin” really started to take shape. It wasn’t just a gimmick; it was a way to speak both languages at once. Classical technique met rap playlists. Practice rooms turned into mini-stages. The question became:

What if the violin didn’t sit in the background, but led the whole story?

Taking the Violin Global

As the sound grew, so did the stages. One of the standout moments was performing at the FIFA World Cup events in New York City in 2025—two days of bringing violin melodies to a global football crowd, mixing stadium energy with street-level flavor.

Those kinds of opportunities confirmed the vision: the violin doesn’t have to stay in one lane. It can live at festivals, on TV, at corporate events, at weddings, in museums, and in places where people don’t expect it—but never forget it once they hear it.

Why This Site Exists

This website is meant to be more than a digital flyer. It’s home base—for the people who’ve watched clips, pulled up to shows, or just stumbled across a video and thought, “What is this?”

Here you can:

  • Watch & Listen – see live performances, street clips, and moments from the road.

  • Enter the Store – pick up pieces inspired by the same grind behind the music.

  • Book Heru – bring trap violin energy to your own event or space.

The merch isn’t random graphics. It’s built around the journey: ideas like “Hustle Harder,” “Work Hard… Dream Big,” “Where Strings Meet Style” come straight from real practice, real shows, and real people who’ve been supporting along the way.
